It is well known that the world of bullfighting was one of the most constant presences in the work of Picasso, it being subject to the interpretations and transformations revealed by this exhibition. Bullfighters and, to a greater degree the bull, are the subjects of his work and also had important presence on the ceramics created by the artist.
The exhibition offers a wide overview of the work of Picasso, accompanied by some ceramics depicting bulls and bullfights. The majority of the works come from the collection of the Pablo Ruiz Picasso – Foundation Museo Casa Natal (Birthplace Museum). The exhibition also includes the twenty-eight prints that comprise La Tauromaquia o arte de torear (Tauromachy or the art of bullfighting), from 1957 and belonging to a private collection.
